Giraffe center and Shieldrick elephant orphanage
This is a Kenya wildlife conservation charity founded in 1977 in the memory of David Sheldrich by his wife widow Daphane Sheldrick. The orphanage rears abandoned elephant and rhino calves and rehabilitates them back to the wild.
This is a giraffe centre situated in Nairobi Karen area. It is run by the African fund of Endangered Wildlife is a sanctuary for the rare Rottchilds giraffe. Visitors see, hand feed the giraffe from a raised circular wooden structure. It is fun especially taking photos with the family.
Lake Nakuru lies in the volcano strewn Rift Valley. It is one of the chains of the 8 lakes which stretch the length of Kenya from Tanzania to Ethiopia. The 160Kms drive from Nairobi passes through highland farms before descending through an escarpment into the dramatic landscape of the Rift Valley.
Lunch is taken in the park and is followed by and extensive tour of the park.
Nakuru Day Trip Itinerary
0700hrs: Depart Nairobi for Nakuru National park.
1000hrs: Arrive at the Nakuru National park and proceed for a 2hr game drive.
1230hrs: Enjoy lunch at the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge.
1430hrs: game drive en-route to Nairobi.
1830hrs: Arrive in Nairobi and be dropped off at a location of your choice within the city.
